What is Tixel Thermal Fractional Skin Rejuvenation?

TIXEL® is an award-winning treatment and one of latest technologies we offer at KLAR Skin & Medical Spa. It uses heat to rejuvenate, resurface and tighten the skin in a process known as ‘thermal fractional skin rejuvenation.” It has ablative and non-ablative settings to tailor treatment to the individual, and is suitable for use right up to the lash line for crepey skin around the eyes, without the downtime and side effects of regular lasers. Tixel® is versatile, using a heated plate to deliver the required amount of heat to the surface of the skin very quickly, without damaging deeper skin tissues.

How does Tixel work?

The top skin layer is vaporised at the sites where the skin makes contact with the Tixel pyramids. Vaporisation leads to removal of tiny portions of the epidermis. This stimulates new epidermis to form. This is fresher, has less pigmentation and sun damage, and gives the skin an even glow with a smooth feel. There are effects on the dermis, which is lower down in the skin, as well. The heat that reaches the dermis and causes the tiny zones to coagulate. This in turn causes fibroblasts to start producing collagen which takes a period of three months or more to develop fully. The collagen boost in the dermis improves lines and wrinkles, tightens loose skin and sagging, and reduces the appearance of acne scars.

What areas can be treated with Tixel?

Tixel can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns across different areas of the body. It's particularly effective for addressing wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars, and can also be used for skin tightening, uneven pigmentation, and hyperpigmentation. It's suitable for delicate areas like the face, eyes, eyelids, neck, and décolleté, as well as other body areas with skin concerns.

What is the downtime?

Tixel offers minimal downtime compared to other skin resurfacing treatments like lasers or deep chemical peels. Most patients can return to normal activities immediately or within a day or two, with some experiencing temporary redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation. Micro-crusting may appear the following day, but it can be covered with makeup. Recovery is typically complete within a few days, and full results are often visible within a week or two.

Who is Tixel good for?

Tixel® treatment is ideal for those seeking smoother, more radiant and revitalised looking skin, but who are worried about downtime. The added benefit is that it continues to deliver results that improve over time and can last for several years (as it is your own collagen that produces the effects).
